What Do Friends of the Library Do?
Advocacy
- Increase public awareness of the Library's services and resources
- Inform the community and governmental leaders of any special needs the Library may have
- Help to add new books and reference sources to the Library's collection
Children's & Family Activities
- Provide assistance with the Vacation Reading Club for children
- Co-sponsor storytellers and authors for family library programs
- Contribute books to the children's collection
- Provide refreshments for children's and family activities and programs
Fundraising
- Conduct fund-raising activities, such as the used book sale, for special library projects and enhancements
- Library Staff Support
- Provide scholarship funds to staff members pursuing a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science
- Work with the Library staff to expand library programs and services
- Assist with funds for staff members community involvement
What the Friends WANT to Do
- Electronically reproduce historical pictures of Lee County people and activities
- Conduct a Garden Tour and Tea
- Hold an auction with the proceeds funding a special children's library project
- Organize a Friends' Market Cart which would feature gift items such as, children's books, book marks & bags, book baskets
- Form private partnerships to raise money for children's programs and projects
